Fed up with the daily chore of washing up the glasses and cutlery piling up in the sink? Adopt Bob, a compact, autonomous and mobile mini-dishwasher.

A mini-dishwasher

Designed by French start-up Daan Tech, Bob is intended for one or two-person households who do not have room or the need for a standard-sized dishwasher. About the size of an upended microwave oven and weighing in at 10 kg, it doesn’t need to be connected to water mains, as, much like a coffee machine, it has its own 3-litre tank.

Once it has been set up on the draining board next to the sink - required for water drainage, it can wash and dry the daily washing up for two people in just 20 minutes. It is fast, but it also saves money and is environmentally-friendly since the three litres it uses per cycle equates to five times less water than is used when washing up by hand!

Finally, it should be noted that this small, retro plastic cube, available in a selection of 12 different colours for the front panel, is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled: a notification on a smartphone or tablet with the accompanying application informs users that the washing cycle has been completed or that the water tank is empty. The application can also be used to start Bob’s washing cycle remotely.

Since October 2018, Bob is available for pre-order and its makers have received more than 5000 pre-orders. The compact and portable little dishwasher will go on sale in the summer of 2019. In the meantime, you can meet Bob at CES 19 (Consumer Electronics Show) from Jan. 8 to Jan. 11  in Las Vegas.
