The unique concept of the PET Lamp

The PET lamp is a cheerful, colourful suspension lamp born from an original concept: combining traditional weaving techniques from different parts of the world with used PET bottles. This initiative, launched by designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón during a trip to the Colombian Amazon in 2011, was quickly exported to other parts of the world. Now, craftsmen from Ethiopia, Japan, Chile, Australia and, of course, Colombia use locally sourced materials to weave unique lampshades to cover plastic bottles that have been converted into lamps.
