A PTFE membrane for remarkable architecture
Conceived as an island of well-being and serenity, with an emphasis on outdoor spaces and in perfect harmony with its surroundings, the building is crowned by a roof covered with an illuminated textile envelope that appears to float in the sky, like a drop of water.
An architectural design and technology project
Designed by Serge Ferrari, a world leader in innovative composite fabrics, this 9500 m² high-tech PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane incorporates an innovative lighting system consisting of 6,000 lights. The reflective properties of the PTFE membrane amplify light transmission, making this unique visual effect possible.
A lightweight, high-performance composite fabric
Fireproof, waterproof, lightweight, and resistant to traction and tearing, Ferrari’s GF-6006 fabric can take on unique shapes — such as a manta ray floating mid-water, as is the case here — ensuring effective protection of the living environment from the elements. Thanks to the translucent fabric, the building can take full advantage of natural light during the day.
