Iconic stadium to lay artificial turf

Wembley Stadium has already changed its turf eleven times since reopening in 2007. It is now hoping that a blend of natural grass turf and synthetic fibres (polypropylene or polyethylene) will silence its critics and give it a pitch fit for sporting heroes to play on!

The Desso GraasMaster system is a 100% natural grass surface into which 20 million artificial grass fibres are injected to a depth of 20 cm. The synthetic fibres mingle with, and strengthen, the natural grass roots.

The system provides a stable, flat all-weather grass playing surface.
