Levi’s and Dyneema put additional strength into jeans

TheDutch DSM, producer of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMwPE), branded as Dyneema® is partnering with US Levi’s® 501® jeans to create the perfect blend of strength, durability and style in jeans.
Dyneema® is the world’s strongest fibreTM. It protects law enforcement officers, hands of automobile workers in the metal industry from cuts and protects cyclists siding on the road. Now the fibre can be found in Levi’s® 501® Warrior and Trooper styles.

The addition of Dyneema® fibres in the new jeans fabric cotton blend (96 % cotton and 4 % Dyneema®) allows a 25 % performance improvement in abrasion resistance and strength over traditional jeans of the same weight. The result: they last longer, and stay longer. No matter if these are exposed to skateboarding spills, seasons of yard work, these jeans just simply won’t wimp out. Unlike other high strength fibres, Dyneema® is soft and supple, so the jeans retain their comfort and fit.

Both U.S. Levi Strauss & Co. and DSM are committed to reduce their carbon footprint by creating sturdy, long lasting products. It is a concept that can be applied to countless other goods, from creating high-performance sports gear to making safer and tougher work clothes.
