The Genexis theatre in Singapore is a suspended oval-shaped structure. With its arrangement of plywood ribs and steel screens, the foyer of the theatre is an undulating space with the appearance of a grotto.

In the theatre hall itself, Basotect®, the melamine resin foam from BASF, provides effective sound absorption optimising the acoustics and listening comfort of this stylish theatre. The flame-retardant panels are covered with a black fleece installed behind some 400,000 wooden beads which flow round the curved walls of the theatre to reduce echoes to a minimum and also create a stunning visual effect.

Its original architecture and impeccable acoustics won it Singapore’s “Design of the Year” prize.
