Miss Gana: funky and green

This Brazilian-made ottoman is bright and breezy, funky, original and quirky: above all, Miss Gana is a great example of eco-design. Creator Karin Wittman makes these seats out of EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) strips from recycled Brazilian flip-flops. They come in an endless range of colours, and each one is hand-made and therefore one-of-a-kind. "The idea is to extend the useful life of industrial leftovers which would otherwise have been thrown away or dumped in landfills, with the aim of turning them into high added value products. Or even better, using them “as-is” without further industrial processing. The challenge is to come up with a product that is attractive, durable, fun and functional, using raw materials no-one wants."
