The first sale of nylon stockings took place on 24 October 1939 in Wilmington (USA) and was met with phenomenal success that far exceeded all its manufacturers' expectations: 4,000 pairs were sold in just three hours!

64 million pairs would be sold in the United States in the course of that first year! Despite production coming to a halt during World War II due to shortages of materials - the material was used to make parachutes -, demand picked up again in 1945, when the rest of the world discovered the new material, and would only slow down in the mid-1960s with the arrival of tights, miniskirts and trousers.
However, nylon stockings are never far from the spotlight and they are a permanent fixture of lingerie outfits. These timeless garments have retained their full potential for seduction and shall forever be synonymous with glamour.
